Heal Our Land

Book Review

“The Dream Giver”

by Bruce Wilkinson

Reviewer: Mike Balmford

This is the latest book by the author of the “The Prayer of Jabez” and “Secrets of the Vine”. It is a modern day parable very reminiscent of Pilgrim’s Progress where you meet Ordinary, a Nobody who leaves the Land of Familiar to pursue his Big Dream. Once the Dream Giver convinces him to escape his comfort zone, Ordinary begins his journey overcoming Border Bullies, navigating the Wasteland and battling the Fierce Giants. The second half of the book is devoted to interpreting the parable, referring to much of the Exodus and Joshua scriptures as you Live past the Edge, experience unexpected opposition from friends and relatives, meet the Dream Giver and develop the Heart of a Warrior. Bruce and his wife now live this dream out in South Africa, feeding and caring for AIDS orphans. It is an extraordinary and inspiring book with its own website, www.TheDreamGiver.com. We need to dream big dreams in connection with Merseyfest this year and to see our own individual contribution to that dream.
