Book Review

“Red Moon Rising:

24-7 Prayer and the Coming Spiritual Awakening”

By Pete Greig & Dave Roberts

Reviewer: Joanne Wells

“This is not just a book, it’s an invitation”. So says Floyd McClung, author of The Father Heart of God. I agree. When I read this book this invitation excited me, made me dream, brought me to tears at the wonder of God, and made me laugh. It is the story of the 24/7 movement. How it all began in the first prayer room in Chichester, to the present day with prayer rooms all over the world. From Communist China to Washington DC and from the ranks of the Salvation Army to anarchic German punks, the 24-7 Prayer movement has been interceding continually, night and day, since 1999 in more than fifty countries. It includes the story of the radical prayer room in Ibiza every summer. Even with the world getting darker, a new generation is learning to pray ands obey like never before. The front of the book says “Red Moon Rising is provocative, prophetic and powerful proof, if you need it, that God is on the move in our time” The book is packed with stories about prayer. The invitation is an unusual invitation however; it’s a beckoning call to prayer, and in particular 24-7 prayer. You sense the heartbeat of God behind the pages of this book, his longing and desire for nations of prayers, and you want to take your place and start to walk in time. All I can say is “Read it!”
